Big Koi Are Here!Published: Fri, 27 Feb 2009
We're always excited to harvest our first batch of big fish for the season. The last time we saw these koi was last spring when they were 6 to 8 inches. We caught these last week just as the ice was leaving the ponds.
They're now from 10 to 16 inches. As always, some have deteriorated, but most have improved with age. We always find a few all white ones that were once tanchos or kohakus. The sumi has deepened on most of the utsuris and showas. So far we're very pleased with the quality. |
